Gender queer Full Book: A Memoir is a 2019 graphical memoir novel written and illustrated by Maia Kobabe. It recounts Kobabe’s journey from adolescence to adulthood and the author’s exploration of gender identity and sexuality, ultimately identifying as being outside the gender binary.
Gender Queer initially had a small print run and was marketed to older teens and adults. It quickly entered the collections of high school and middle school libraries when it received the Alex Award in 2020, the American Library Association’s “Books for Adults” book that appeals to young adults ages 12 to 18.
